60 words cover 25% daily usage

5 words (的，一，是，了，我) cover 10% daily usage;
60 words cover 25%;
100 words cover 35%;
200 words cover 45%;
300 words cover 50%;
1,000 words cover 90%.

Chinese language has thousands of words, but most of words are not in use, 1,000 frequently used words cover 90% daily usage.

1,000 frequently used words can form 10,000 daily phrases. If you learned 1,000 words, you can reach HSK4, enter medium level. So Chinese reading is not too difficult.
